Job summary

Solid Professionals is seeking a Security Operations Engineer to maintain and improve security platforms within complex IT environments. You will work on operational management, configuration and security tooling, collaborating with security, infrastructure and operations teams to ensure a stable, secure environment.

The role emphasizes lifecycle management, incident resolution, and automation using Ansible, Terraform and Python.

Qualifications

• Completed MBO Level 4, Bachelor's or Master's degree in IT or a related field, or equivalent knowledge and experience.
• Preferably 2–3 years of relevant experience in security engineering, infrastructure management or technical implementation.
• Hands‑on experience with security technologies such as Palo Alto, Check Point, F5, Cisco ASA or Cisco ESA (IronPort).
• Knowledge of network security, firewalls, network protocols and security platform management.
• Experience with Lifecycle Management activities, including software upgrades, patch management, technical changes and vulnerability remediation.
• Practical experience in operational management, troubleshooting and incident resolution and/or configuring and implementing security solutions.
• Familiarity with automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, Git or Python. Experience with all these technologies is not required.
• Relevant certifications, such as Palo Alto PCNSA/PCNSE, Check Point CCSA/CCSE, F5-CA/F5-CTS or Cisco CCNA/CCNP Security, are considered an advantage.
• Willingness to participate in a 24/7 on‑call rotation.
• A structured approach to work, strong technical problem‑solving skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Good command of Dutch and English.

Responsibilities

• Day‑to‑day operation and technical maintenance of security platforms.
• Work with technologies such as Palo Alto, Check Point, F5 and Cisco to ensure a secure, stable IT environment.
• Perform Lifecycle Management: upgrades, patches, licence renewals and hardware replacements.
• Investigate incidents, troubleshoot issues and support incident resolution.
• Configure and implement security solutions; build, configure or optimise security components as needed.
• Contribute to automation using Ansible, Terraform or Python to improve efficiency.
• Collaborate with security engineers, infrastructure specialists and operational teams; participate in 24/7 on-call rotation.
