Job summary

Amsterdam International Community School (AICS) seeks a qualified Design Teacher to join our Design department, with a strong understanding of inquiry-based learning and ideally experience in the IB (MYP/DP). You will be part of a large, diverse school community and support students from many cultures.

This role is a long-term maternity cover at our South-East Campus for 0.7–0.9 FTE, teaching Monday–Friday.

Qualifications

• A valid teaching qualification recognised by DUO to teach in a secondary school in the Netherlands.
• Excellent knowledge of diverse teaching methodologies.
• Understanding of varied cultural backgrounds and inclusive practices.
• Strong command of English and communication skills.

About us

The Amsterdam International Community School (AICS) is a Dutch International Primary and Secondary School offering international education in English to 2400 students of more than 80 different nationalities who are (temporarily) living in the Netherlands and are enjoying high quality, accessible, community-based international learning.

About the position

For our Design department we are looking for a qualified Design Teacher with a strong understanding of inquiry-based learning, ideally with experience in the International Baccalaureate (MYP/DP). You feel confident being part of a large school community and like to work as part of a professional team. You are able to cater for students with many different social, emotional, and educational needs, from a variety of different cultural backgrounds and countries.

• Salary in LB payscale, based upon knowledge and experience (min. € 3.665,- max. € 5.586,- full-time per month, before tax) or higher scale, depending on experience.

We offer a long-term maternity cover contract for 0.7-0.9 FTE, depending on additional tasks. This position is based at our South-East Campus to teach Monday-Friday. Start date December 2026, or possibly earlier. We anticipate the cover to last approximately one year, although this may be extended.
