The Amsterdam International Community School is seeking a qualified and fluent Dutch-speaking teacher for our Language department, with a strong interest in inquiry-based learning and ideally experience with the IB Middle Years Programme and Diploma.
While experience in Dutch language teaching is welcome, we are open to talented secondary teachers of other subjects who are fluent in Dutch, supported by professional development to gain the Dutch qualification.
Do you want to be part of an international IB school in Amsterdam where learning is at the heart of everything we do? Then we invite you to apply!
The Amsterdam International Community School (AICS) is a Dutch International Primary and Secondary School, offering international education in English to 2400 students of more than 80 different nationalities who are (temporarily) living in the Netherlands andare enjoying high quality, accessible, community-based international learning.

AICS students value and embrace differences and diversity. Our education aims to teach our students to become compassionate and wise human beings through knowledge and inquiry.
The AICS is guided by the core values of belonging, a possibility mindset, andlearning for life, fostering a supportive community in which students, staff and parents feel valued, approach challenges with optimism, and are committed to continuous personal and academic development.
You are a teacher who values collaboration, demonstrates flexibility in a dynamic learning environment, and is committed to the continuous development of both students and your own professional practice.
We are particularly interested in hearing from qualified Secondary Teachers who are fluent in Dutch, even if Dutch is not currently your listed teaching subject. Perhaps you are qualified in Languages, History, Geography, or another subject, but have a passion for Dutch language and would like to develop this into a new area of your teaching practice. We are particularly interested in hearing from experienced teachers of Dutch as a Foreign Language (NT2), even if they are not yet holding a teachingqualification for Secondary.
You do not necessarily need to hold a Dutch language teaching qualification already. If you are a qualified Secondary teacher in another subject and are fluent in Dutch, we are open to exploring how your existing qualifications and experiencecould transfer to teaching Dutch. We are willing to support and guide the right candidate through the necessary professional development and training to obtain this qualification.
For our Language department we are looking for a qualified and fluent Dutch-speaking teacher with a strong understanding of or interest in inquiry-based learning, ideally with experience in the International Baccalaureate (MYP/DP).
We are taking a flexible approach to this recruitment. While experience and qualifications in teaching Dutch are welcome, we are also keen to hear from qualified secondary teachers of other subjects who are fluent in Dutch and would be interestedin developing their practice in Dutch Language. Your subject expertise, teaching experience and enthusiasm for Dutch may provide an excellent foundation for this transition, and we can discuss the professional development and support that may be needed.
You feel confident being part of a large school community and like to work as part of a professional team. You are able to cater for students with many different social, emotional, and educational needs, from a variety of different cultural backgrounds andcountries.
We offer a temporary contract for an FTE of 0.4-0.8. This position is based at our SouthEast Campus.Start January 2027.
