Amsterdam International Community School (AICS) seeks a qualified Design Teacher for our South-East Campus to teach Monday-Friday in an IB-friendly, inquiry-based setting.

You will work with a diverse student body and a collaborative team, supporting a large school community and adhering to Esprit School standards. Start December 2026, with a one-year maternity cover extension possible.

Qualifications

• A valid teaching qualification recognised by DUO to be able to teach in a secondary school in the Netherlands.
• Excellent knowledge and experience of various teaching and educational methodologies.
• Understanding and knowledge of various cultural backgrounds.
• Good command of the English language and communication skills.
• Commitment to the IB programme.
• A resilient attitude and a good sense of humour.
• Excellent planning and organizing of engaging lessons while building strong relationships.

About the position

For our Design department we are looking for a qualified Design Teacher with a strong understanding of inquiry-based learning, ideally with experience in the International Baccalaureate (MYP/DP). You feel confident being part of a large school community and like to work as part of a professional team. You are able to cater for students with many different social, emotional, and educational needs, from a variety of different cultural backgrounds and countries.

• Salary in LB payscale, based upon knowledge and experience (min. € 3.665,- max. € 5.586,- full-time per month, before tax) or higher scale, depending on experience.

We offer a long-term maternity cover contract for 0.7-0.9 FTE, depending on additional tasks. This position is based at our South-East Campus to teach Monday-Friday. Start date December 2026, or possibly earlier. We anticipate the cover to last approximately one year, although this may be extended.
