Job summary

The Rijnlands Lyceum Foundation in The Hague seeks a Lab Assistant (TOA) to support Science departments (Biology, Integrated Science, Chemistry and Physics). You will prepare experiments, test demonstrations, advise teachers on practical activities, and help maintain a safe, well-organised laboratory.

The role requires relevant science qualifications, strong English, ICT skills, safety knowledge, and the ability to work both independently and with colleagues in an international school setting.

Qualifications

• Qualifications in science or TOA-level equivalent (MBO4).
• Strong knowledge of science education in a school setting.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Proficient with ICT and educational technology.
• Knowledge of laboratory safety regulations and procedures.
• Recent TOA experience in secondary education is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Prepare experiments and practical demonstrations.
• Test experiments to ensure classroom delivery.
• Consult with teachers on practical activities and demonstrations.
• Develop and refine practical experiments and demonstrations.
• Advise teachers on laboratory safety procedures.
• Carry out minor repairs to laboratory equipment and materials.
• Manage laboratory stock and order equipment and consumables.
• Attend meetings with teachers and TOAs.
• Maintain a clean, organised, and well-equipped lab.
• Support teachers in supervising larger classes during practicals.
