Job summary

Meesterbaan | Mid invites a Lab Assistant for Sciences to join the European School The Hague. You will support four TOAs across Biology, Integrated Science, Physics and Chemistry, preparing experiments and ensuring safe, engaging practical lessons.

The role emphasises collaboration, proactive organisation and reliability in a multicultural school setting in The Hague, with pro-rata salary and a 0.6 FTE pattern.

Qualifications

• Sound knowledge of science education within a school environment.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Good ICT skills and ability to work with educational technology.
• Knowledge of laboratory safety regulations and health and safety procedures.
• Recent experience as a technical teaching assistant (TOA) in secondary education is desirable.
• Experience in an international and/or intercultural educational environment is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Preparing experiments and practical demonstrations.
• Testing experiments to ensure they can be delivered in class.
• Consulting with teachers and advising on practical activities.
• Developing and refining practical experiments and demonstrations.
• Advising teachers on laboratory safety procedures and classroom safety rules.
• Carrying out minor repairs to laboratory equipment and materials.
• Managing laboratory stock and ordering equipment and consumables.
• Attending meetings with teachers and fellow TOAs.
• Maintaining a clean, organised and well-equipped laboratory with inventory management.
• Supporting teachers in supervising larger classes during practical lessons.
