Job summary

Rijnlands Lyceum Foundation in The Hague is seeking a Temporary Lab Assistant for Sciences (Technische Onderwijs Assistent) to support Biology, Integrated Science, Chemistry and Physics teaching. The role is 0.6 FTE on a temporary contract through July 2026, with potential extension.

You will prepare experiments, assist teachers, ensure safety, and manage lab stock. English proficiency and lab experience are essential; Dutch knowledge is a plus.

Qualifications

• Subject expertise in Biology or related sciences; e.g., Technical Education Assistant MBO level 4.
• Knowledge of Chemistry and Physics in a school setting.
• Excellent command of English, spoken and written.
• Recent work experience as a technical teaching assistant in secondary education.
• Familiar with safety measures and working conditions in labs.
• Good ICT skills in an educational context.
• Experience in international and/or intercultural education is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Prepare experiments and practical demonstrations for Biology and Integrated Science.
• Test experiments to ensure they run in class when needed.
• Consult with teachers to provide input on practical experiments.
• Advise on classroom safety rules and safety measures in labs.
• Carry out minor repairs to equipment or materials.
• Manage stock and order materials; attend meetings with teachers.
