Job summary

Telnyx is seeking an experienced telecom infrastructure engineer to operate and optimize its mobile core and EPC platform. You’ll debug real subscriber issues, decode traces, and coordinate with roaming partners to maintain healthy core networks.

In this hands-on role, you’ll work with Linux systems, automate tasks, and engage with vendors to drive rapid incident resolution while contributing to tooling and observability improvements.

Qualifications

• 3+ years operating or engineering telecom infrastructure (EPC, HSS/HLR, DRA, STP, PGW, SMF).
• Strong understanding of mobile core signalling: Diameter (S6a, S6d, Gx), SS7/MAP/TCAP, GTPv2-C, GTP-U.
• Comfort reading pcap traces with tshark/Wireshark dissection.
• Solid Linux system skills and infrastructure automation (Ansible or equivalent).
• Experience working in a vendor-managed environment to drive resolution.

Responsibilities

• Investigate subscriber attach failures and decode protocol traces across Diameter, MAP, GTP-C/U.
• Operate and troubleshoot HSS/HLR, STPs, PGWs, SMFs, and GTP proxies; manage etcd‑based policies.
• Coordinate with roaming NOCs and external partners to resolve incidents end‑to‑end.
• Participate in on-call rotations and write post‑incident reviews to improve tooling.
• Contribute to automation and tooling (pcap decoders, dashboards, and runbooks).
