Job summary

Lever, Inc. on behalf of a partner company is seeking a part-time Fractional Security Engineer based in the Netherlands.

The role focuses on elevating security posture through hands-on cloud and application security, governance, and DevSecOps practices, while advising early-stage ventures. You will shape security strategy, mentor teams, and align data privacy with GDPR, Australian Privacy Act, and other regulations across Europe, Asia, and Australia.

Qualifications

• Proven hands-on experience in security engineering, cloud security, application security, DevSecOps, or related discipline.
• Strong understanding of CI/CD security, cloud platforms (AWS, GCP), IAM, vulnerability management, and endpoint security.
• Ability to translate technical findings into practical, prioritized recommendations.
• Experience handling client security assessments, questionnaires, audits, or vendor assessments.
• Knowledge of governance frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR) is valuable.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a 12-month security roadmap balancing enterprise-grade security with agility.
• Maintain a security risk register and prioritize remediation.
• Mentor IT leadership and translate activities into actionable controls.
• Provide guidance on secure coding, DevSecOps, and OWASP principles.
• Strengthen security controls across cloud, CI/CD pipelines, IAM, and endpoints.
• Ensure GDPR and other privacy regulations compliance across regions.
• Standardize responses to security questionnaires, audits, and vendor assessments.
• Develop security policies for incident response, access control, and business continuity.
• Guide selection of security technologies (EDR, SIEM, vulnerability management).
• Create a right-sized security framework for early-stage portfolio companies.
