Job summary

Lever, Inc. seeks an experienced Network & Security Engineer to manage pfSense/OPNsense-based networks for remote clients in the Netherlands. You will handle firewall operations, VPN connectivity, and design across multiple customer environments.

You will automate with Ansible/Python/Bash, document implementations, and collaborate with SOC/NOC teams. The role requires rotating shifts, strong English & Spanish, and a practical, documentation-driven approach to complex network issues.

Qualifications

• Five+ years of professional network engineering experience (excluding internships).
• Hands-on with pfSense and OPNsense firewall platforms.
• Strong IPSec VPN design, configuration, and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience with BGP or other dynamic routing protocols.
• Solid IPv4/IPv6 networking knowledge.
• Experience with switches (Dell preferred) and Proxmox environments.
• Basic network automation using Ansible, Python, or Bash.
• Strong troubleshooting, structured documentation, and teamwork.
• Fluent in English and Spanish; German is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day network and firewall operations and contribute to projects.
• Independently implement, configure, document IPSec VPNs and firewall rules (pfSense/OPNsense).
• Design and document network environments for customer and internal projects.
• Troubleshoot complex routing, switching, and VPN connectivity issues.
• Configure IPv4/IPv6, dynamic routing, and switching in practical environments.
• Introduce basic network automation to streamline deployments and workflows.
• Collaborate with SOC to analyze firewall logs and respond to incidents.
• Identify improvements in configurations, security practices, and efficiency.
• Train and onboard colleagues and share knowledge across teams.
• Participate in rotating shifts with NOC and SOC teams.
