Jobgether, on behalf of a partner company, seeks a Software Engineer (Edge - Networking & Fleet) in the Netherlands to build scalable edge infrastructure for a large residential device network. You will design and operate distributed systems, implement mTLS/gRPC communications, and own the edge proxy gateway, scheduling platform, and fleet management capabilities across Windows, Linux, and Android.

Competenze

• 5+ years of professional Rust experience with end-to-end production systems.
• Experience designing and operating distributed systems at scale.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems concepts: consistency, partitions, backpressure, idempotency.
• Strong networking knowledge: TCP, TLS, HTTP, handshakes, packet-level behavior.
• Practical experience with gRPC and long-lived connections across NAT/unreliable networks.
• Experience building or operating forward proxies or proxy gateways.
• Experience with IP reputation, proxy pools, traffic routing.
• Production operations experience: defining SLOs, observability, incident response, on-call.
• Cross-platform Rust development for Windows, Linux, Android; FFI boundaries.
• Strong written communication and remote collaboration.

Mansioni

• Scale data plane by evolving the fetch scheduler to handle 50-100 million requests per day.
• Design Fleet Manager control plane with adapters, inventory, health management, configuration, reconciliation, rollout control, and metrics export to BigQuery.
• Develop provider integrations for onboarding new device sources via standardized workflows.
• Own and improve the CONNECT proxy gateway and edge session management.
• Implement secure networking between services and residential peers using mTLS, gRPC, and streaming over unreliable connections.
• Address NAT, carrier-grade NAT, bandwidth accounting, connection reliability, and resource contention.
• Define and maintain SLOs for availability, request success, and latency across the Edge route.
• Build observability for peer availability, device drop-off, bandwidth usage, and provider performance.
• Blue/green deployments and safe rollouts for control services and edge peers.
• Participate in on-call rotation and post-mortems with improvements from findings.
• Produce design documents and recommendations for scheduling, fleet management, and failover strategies.
• Review designs and promote distributed-systems best practices, including consistency, backpressure, idempotency, and limiting failure impact.
