Jobgether is seeking a Software Engineer (Edge – Devices & Mobile) for the Netherlands. You will build and scale a cross‑platform device infrastructure in Rust, delivering a peer runtime for Windows, Android, and Linux with future macOS support.

You will own critical infrastructure, address security, performance, and reliability across a globally distributed fleet, collaborating with senior engineers and cross‑functional teams.

Competenze

• At least 5 years of professional experience developing Rust production software.
• Experience building cross-platform Rust apps on Windows, macOS, and Android.
• Strong knowledge of OS internals, process management, and platform constraints.
• Experience with FFI and integrating Rust with C/C++ and JNI/NDK, Win32, POSIX.
• Solid understanding of TCP, TLS, and HTTP networking.
• Experience with asynchronous programming in Rust (Tokio/Tonic).
• Focus on reliability, observability, and production operations.
• Excellent written communication and remote teamwork.
• Familiarity with gRPC, Protocol Buffers, mTLS, Chromium networking, Kubernetes, cloud infra is advantageous.

Mansioni

• Design, develop, and maintain cross-platform Rust peer runtime for Windows, Android, Linux; future macOS. (cross‑platform)
• Manage process lifecycles, networking, updates, and stability across devices.
• Expand platform to Android using NDK and JNI; address services and battery constraints.
• Integrate native networking tech including Cronet and C++ into Rust libraries.
• Work with FFIs; ensure memory safety and cross-language interoperability.
• Collect hardware/OS signals to improve network realism for distributed fleets.
• Develop device observability and performance metrics (uptime, bandwidth, availability).
• Expand peer capabilities for additional workloads while maintaining security boundaries.
• Participate in on-call rotations, post-mortems, and improve deployment processes.
• Contribute to technical docs, architecture proposals, and engineering standards.
