Lever, Inc. is seeking a Backend Engineer to join a small, ambitious product team working remotely across Europe. You will own the central API and backend services, primarily using Node.js and TypeScript, with a focus on API design, data modeling, and performance.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience building large-scale APIs and backend systems.
• Strong focus on API design and data modeling.
• Deep expertise in Node.js and TypeScript.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, ClickHouse, Redis, or Kafka.
• High standards for reliability, performance, and code quality.
• Proven end-to-end ownership across multiple tech stacks.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain the central API and backend services using Node.js and TypeScript.
• Build fast, efficient services delivering data and calculations with great DX for client developers.
• Design intuitive APIs and elegant data models for internal and external users.
• Scale backend systems while maintaining reliability and performance.
• Collaborate with frontend, design, and product in a remote, asynchronous environment.
• Take end-to-end ownership of projects across technologies and teams.
