Job summary

Tellent is building an HRIS platform used by thousands of companies to manage time off, attendance, and employee data. As a Senior Backend Engineer, you’ll help evolve the platform alongside a collaborative squad of engineers, a Product Manager, and QA.

Your primary focus will be backend development in Node.js, with occasional frontend contributions in React to ensure the best customer experience. You’ll shape technical decisions and deliver real customer value across Europe.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience designing and building scalable backend applications with Node.js.
• Experience with React, or interest in contributing across the stack when needed.
• Senior-level engineering judgment—you know when to refactor, when to optimize, and when shipping the right solution creates the most value.
• A product mindset: evolving requirements, thoughtful questions, pragmatic trade-offs for customer impact.
• Strong communication skills and fluency in English.

Responsibilities

• Build and improve core HR workflows in Node.js, including country-specific time-off policies.
• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services used by organizations of all sizes.
• Improve performance, reliability, and maintainability of existing features as the customer base grows.
• Refactor and modernize the platform while ensuring a seamless experience for existing customers.
• Occasionally contribute to frontend development in React when it helps deliver the best customer experience.
• Collaborate with engineers, Product Managers, QA, and designers to solve customer problems.
