Job summary

Alignerr is seeking Backend Developers to design, build, and optimize the server-side systems and APIs powering AI products, including data pipelines and model-serving infrastructure. This fully remote hourly contract role runs 10-40 hours per week and is open to engineers across the Netherlands.

You will design scalable, high-performance microservices, integrate with databases and cloud services, and collaborate with distributed teams to deliver robust AI-enabled systems at scale.

Qualifications

• Proficient in one or more back end languages and RESTful API design.
• Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases.
• Familiar with cloud platforms and containerization.
• Strong problem-solving skills and independent work style.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust back end services, APIs, and data pipelines.
• Build scalable server-side architecture to support AI workloads.
• Write clean, well-documented, and testable code.
• Integrate with databases, queues, cloud services, and external APIs.
• Optimize performance, reliability, and scalability as usage grows.
• Collaborate asynchronously with distributed teams and conduct code reviews.
• Work independently on task- and project-based assignments.
