Progressive in the Netherlands is seeking an experienced Regulatory Affairs Specialist with strong dairy industry knowledge for a maternity cover in the BG QA team.

You will advise stakeholders across Quality, R&D, Supply Chain, Sales, Marketing and Manufacturing, monitor global food legislation, review labels, and support cross-country regulatory compliance during a fast-paced, project-driven assignment. This is a hybrid role with English required and German a bonus.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of Regulatory Affairs experience in the food industry.
  • Strong dairy sector knowledge and B2B experience.
  • Solid understanding of food legislation, labelling and compliance.
  • Ability to translate regulatory requirements into practical actions.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor global food legislation and regulatory updates.
  • Review and approve product labels, packaging artwork, claims and communications.
  • Provide regulatory guidance across product development from concept to market launch.
  • Perform regulatory risk assessments and impact analyses for changes and developments.
  • Advise stakeholders on food law, labelling and compliance matters.
  • Support issue resolution and development of compliance processes.
  • Deliver training to raise regulatory awareness.
  • Collaborate with regulatory colleagues across countries to ensure international compliance.

Job description

Location: Utrecht region
Working hours: Full-time, 38-40 hours per week
Contract Period: 4 January 2027 - 16 April 2027
Working Model: Hybrid (minimum Monday on-site plus ideally one additional office day)

We are looking for a Regulatory Affairs Specialist to join a dynamic BG QA team supporting an international B2B food business. In this role, you will serve as a trusted advisor to stakeholders across Quality, R&D, Supply Chain, Sales, Marketing, and Manufacturing, helping the organisation navigate food legislation and regulatory requirements across multiple markets.

This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned regulatory professional who can quickly become operational and make an immediate impact within a fast-paced, project-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor global food legislation, regulatory updates, and industry developments, assessing potential business impact and compliance risks.
  • Review and approve product labels, packaging artwork, product claims, and communication materials.
  • Provide regulatory guidance throughout innovation and product development projects, from concept to market launch.
  • Perform regulatory risk assessments and impact analyses for products, ingredients, packaging changes, and legislative developments.
  • Advise internal stakeholders on food law, labelling requirements, customer requirements, and compliance-related matters.
  • Support the identification, assessment, and resolution of regulatory and compliance issues.
  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of policies, standards, guidelines, and compliance processes.
  • Deliver training sessions and workshops to increase regulatory awareness within the organisation.
  • Collaborate with regulatory colleagues across multiple countries to ensure compliance in international markets.
  • Develop expertise in specialised areas such as sustainability, contaminants, packaging, nutrition, and food claims.

What We're Looking For
  • Minimum 5 years of Regulatory Affairs experience within the food industry.
  • Strong experience within the dairy sector.
  • Experience working in a Business-to-Business (B2B) environment.
  • Solid understanding of food legislation, labelling, and regulatory compliance.
  • Proven ability to assess regulatory impact and translate requirements into practical business actions.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and become productive quickly within an interim assignment.
Preferred
  • Experience working within international or global food organisations.
  • Knowledge of sustainability, nutrition, packaging, food claims, or contaminants legislation.
Team

You will join a broader BG QA team of approximately 25 professionals across the Netherlands and Belgium, including QA Sales and QA Complaints specialists. The Regulatory Affairs team consists of one manager and two specialists, located in Amersfoort and Lummen.
