Job summary

Connect Group is seeking a Regional Financial Controller to strengthen governance and financial controls across the business in the Netherlands. You will design and embed future control processes while ensuring robust internal governance.

In this role, you will oversee balance sheet reviews, group consolidations under IFRS/local GAAP, and the full annual audit process. The ideal candidate has ACCA or equivalent and 5–6 years of relevant experience, with Dutch GAAP knowledge and Dutch tax insight.

Qualifications

• Qualified accountant with ACCA or equivalent.
• 5–6 years of financial experience.
• Strong Dutch GAAP knowledge and local tax rules.
• Proficient in NetSuite; IT skills including MS Office 365.
• Fluent English; Dutch preferred; right to work in the Netherlands.

Our client is a prominent player in the renewable energy sector—specifically specializing in solar energy development, infrastructure, and sustainable power solutions—dedicated to driving the clean energy transition across Europe. They are currently expanding their finance team and looking for a dedicated professional to help protect corporate value through robust governance, financial controls, and strategic assurance.

Role Purpose

The Regional Financial Controller will play a pivotal role in delivering institutional-level assurance on the efficiency and effectiveness of financial controls. You will drive meaningful changes, design and embed future control processes, and ensure robust internal governance across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate financial records, manage monthly balance sheet reviews, and execute reconciliations by WD 10.
• Oversee monthly and group consolidations in accordance with IFRS and local GAAP requirements.
• Manage the complete annual audit process with group auditors, ensuring compliance and timely filing of statutory accounts.

Taxation Management:

• Handle indirect taxes, VAT returns, and local tax filings for Dutch group companies.
• Partner with the CFO and local tax advisors on local tax strategies, including green investment credits and tax depreciation allowances.

General Operations:

• Prepare borrower company accounts for project financing and oversee SSI entries for bank accounts.
• Provide mentorship and support to junior staff across finance functions.
• Professional accounting qualification (ACCA or equivalent).
• 5 to 6 years of relevant financial experience.
• Strong technical expertise in Dutch GAAP and local tax regulations.
• Excellent attention to detail, time management, and prioritization skills.
• IT-savvy, with proficiency in MS Office 365 and preferred experience working with NetSuite.
• Fluent in written and spoken English; Dutch language skills are highly preferred.
• Must hold the right to work in the Netherlands.
