Job summary

Hef Associates is seeking a Senior Financial Controller to lead financial planning, reporting, and team management from its Utrecht office. You will translate complex financial data into clear guidance for management and drive continuous improvement across processes and systems.

You will oversee statutory compliance, cash flow analysis, and collaboration with cross-functional teams, while mentoring financial professionals and implementing optimization projects.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of experience in a similar finance role.
• Completed college or university degree in Finance, Accounting or similar.
• Strong analytical ability and able to translate numbers into actions.
• Proactive attitude and ability to work independently.
• Eager to learn and take on new challenges.
• Fluency in Dutch and English.

Responsibilities

• Integral management of the financial administrations of various entities.
• Prepare, review and analyze balance sheet, income statement and cash flow statements.
• Manage the financial administration employee(s) and junior controller(s).
• Handling VAT returns, CBS reports and other legal obligations.
• Review and compile balance sheet files in preparation for audits.
• Analyze variances from budgets, forecasts and prior periods.
• Responsible for connecting subsystems with financial records.
• Provide requested documents, specifications and reconciliations for audits.
• Initiate and implement financial and administrative improvement projects.

Your responsibilities:

Your profile:

• You have at least 3 years of experience in a similar finance position.
• Completed college or university degree in Finance, Accountancy or similar.
• Strong analytical ability and able to convincingly translate numbers into actions. .
• Proactive attitude and ability to work independently.
• Eager to learn and willing to take on new challenges.
• Affinity with Excel and knowledge of financial software such as AFAS, Spend Cloud and Nmbrs is a plus.
• Command of the Dutch and English languages.
• Available for 32 to 38 hours per week.
