Job description

Overview

This business is an established global manufacturer of AC and DC EV charging solutions, with a long track record in power electronics. It works with fleets, depots, charge point operators and service stations, supplying charging systems tailored to each customer.

Its European base is in the Amsterdam area, where a small, lean team combines the backing of a global group with the pace and feel of a startup.

European R&D currently has no headcount. With projects picking up through 2027 and several new European markets opening, they are hiring their first R&D Engineer in Europe to build that capability locally.

What you'll do
  • Split your time roughly 50/50 between hardware and software, testing physical chargers in the office and on-site car park alongside software testing and development
  • Analyse charging performance and test how chargers behave in real-world conditions
  • Adapt firmware and software to customer requirements and take part in technical conversations with clients
  • Help customers on-site to diagnose and resolve technical issues
  • Keep products aligned with European charging standards and regulations
  • Contribute to the development of next-generation charging products for the European market
  • Complete training with the global R&D team and bring that knowledge back to build the European function
  • Travel across Europe for trade shows and client visits
What we're looking for
  • 3 to 4 years of experience in the EV charging sector
  • A degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering or Computer Science
  • Comfortable working hands-on with hardware as well as in software and firmware
  • Self-sufficient and happy to work in a lean team where you shape how things are done
  • Clear communicator with clients and colleagues at all levels, in English
  • Comfortable with travel and flexible working patterns
  • Already based in the Netherlands with the right to work here. Visa sponsorship is not available
What's on offer
  • Base salary: EUR 55,000-75,000, depending on experience
  • Pension contribution
  • Travel allowance
