Job summary

Rotterdam Innovation City seeks a Team Lead for Quantum Application Science to act as a strategic bridge between customers’ experiments and our control stack. You will lead a team of Quantum Application Scientists, providing clarity, structure, and coaching to help them thrive and to align scientific capabilities with market needs.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Physics with a focus on superconducting or semiconductor qubits; broad curiosity across multiple qubit modalities.
• Ph.D. in quantum computing is a must.
• Substantial hands-on experimental experience building and debugging setups with RF signals, microwaves, DC equipment, cryostats, QPUs, and auxiliary equipment.

Responsibilities

• Coach and develop: Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of Application Scientists with development plans and career pathways.
• Provide clarity and alignment: set expectations, establish operating rhythms, and define what good looks like.
• Prioritize relentlessly: triage, say no diplomatically, protect team bandwidth from distractions.
• Cross-functional partnership: support Sales with demos, positioning, and early qualification of opportunities.
• Be the voice of the customer: translate needs into internal product input and ensure technical fit.
• Own R&D feedback loop: synthesize customer feedback into strategic signals for the roadmap.
