Job description

If you’ve spent enough time in a quantum lab to know what tends to break at 2am, but have also discovered that you genuinely enjoy developing people — this could be a very interesting next step.

I’m working with a leading European quantum technology company looking for a Quantum Application Scientist Team Lead to lead a highly technical team working directly with some of the world’s most advanced quantum computing organisations.

This isn't a purely academic leadership role.

You’ll sit right at the intersection of customers, quantum hardware, R&D and commercial strategy.

You’ll:

  • Lead, coach and develop a team of Quantum Application Scientists
  • Work directly with advanced quantum customers on complex experimental challenges
  • Help translate customer requirements into clear priorities for R&D
  • Partner closely with Sales on technical qualification, demos and strategic opportunities
  • Bring structure and prioritisation to a highly specialised scientific team
  • Remain technically credible across quantum control, RF/microwave systems and experimental setups

What we're looking for:

PhD in Quantum Computing / Quantum Physics

Strong experience with superconducting and/or semiconductor qubits

Genuine hands-on experimental experience with RF, microwaves, DC equipment, cryostats and QPUs

Proven experience managing technical/scientific teams, including performance and development

Strong enough technically to earn the trust of quantum scientists and commercially minded enough to understand what matters to customers

Excellent English communication and presentation skills

You don't need to come from a traditional sales background.

You do need the curiosity and communication skills to turn highly complex quantum problems into decisions that customers, product teams and commercial stakeholders can act on.
