Job summary

Demcon Groningen is seeking a hands-on prototype engineer who will help realize machines, modules and test setups within diverse projects. You participate in design discussions, contribute to assembly improvements, and have the freedom to propose and implement enhancements in consultation with fellow prototype engineers.

You will be involved across development, assembly, integration, testing, delivery and support, using CAD/EPLAN models and producing reliable parts.

Qualifications

• MBO+/HBO education in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, or electrical engineering.
• Experience as prototype engineer in mechanical/high-tech fields.
• Dutch and English language skills; driving license.

What are you going to do?

Our business unit Demcon Industrial Systems (DIS) develops and realizes the most diverse projects for the (complex) machine building market. The projects range from partial development or a proof of principle setup to complete machines and total system solutions for our customers in machine building.

As a prototype engineer, you will help realize machines, modules, and measuring/testing setups within our projects. Your contribution begins early in the project by participating in the design process, for example, with regard to assembly. You have sufficient insight to create a working module or machine with minimal instruction. You will be given the freedom to propose improvements and implement them in consultation with your fellow (prototype) engineers.

You are involved in the entire process: from development, assembly, and integration to testing, delivery, and technical support, service, and maintenance. You also play an active role in the development process by building test setups, performing system tests, and documenting and feeding back findings for further design improvement.

You are well-versed in the fields of (precision) mechanics and/or electronics. Working with a CAD or Eplan model, production drawing, or schematic for assembly purposes comes naturally to you. Experience in creating or adapting a part through conventional turning or milling is a plus. Additionally, you enjoy contributing to solutions for prototypes and assembly tools. You are easily approachable for this.

You have a broad interest in technology, for example in mechatronics, mechanical engineering, or electrical engineering. You enjoy taking on development opportunities in your field. This can also be in the direction of engineering or preparation for series production. You take ownership of your workshop; it is clean and organized, and you readily take the freedom to set up your own structure. You have an eye for detail and work meticulously, but sometimes you just need to roll up your sleeves and get things done. Sometimes this is at the customer's site, but usually in our own prototype workshop. You enjoy collaborating with colleagues. They can count on you to be flexible and jump in with urgent requests.

What are you bringing?

• MBO+/HBO work and thinking level, and relevant technical education (mechanical engineering, mechatronics, electrical engineering, or comparable)
• Relevant experience as a prototype engineer in a similar field (mechanical engineering or high tech);
• Proactive and helpful attitude;
• You have experience and knowledge of 5S methodologies.;
• Good command of Dutch and (partially) English;
• A broad technical interest;
• You are results-oriented, a strong communicator, and accurate.;
• You enjoy working project-based and in a team environment.;
• In possession of a driver's license
