Job summary

Demcon is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to drive mechanical realization of our mechatronic systems from concept through manufacturing documentation.

You will lead design activities, coordinate outsourcing, and ensure technical quality while mentoring fellow engineers and maintaining customer relationships.

Qualifications

• Completed bachelor or university education in mechanical engineering.
• At least 5 years of relevant work experience as a mechanical lead engineer.
• Excellent analytical skills and knowledge of 3D CAD, DFX.
• Entrepreneurial, creative, proactive and customer-oriented.
• Fluent Dutch and English.

As a Lead Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for the successful realization of the mechanical aspects of our innovative mechatronic systems and concepts. From the earliest concept phase onwards, you play a key role in transforming ideas into technically feasible and manufacturable solutions. Working within multidisciplinary project teams, you lead the mechanical design activities and provide a solid technical and analytical foundation for design decisions. You take ownership of the entire engineering process, from concept development and detailed engineering to guiding the creation of complete manufacturing documentation. During the realization phase, you coordinate the outsourcing of mechanical components and oversee assembly and integration activities. Throughout the project, you ensure technical quality, manage risks, and make well-founded engineering decisions. In addition to your technical expertise, you act as a coach, mentor, and leader for fellow engineers. You foster collaboration within the team, maintain close relationships with customers, and help create a positive and productive project environment. Through your leadership, communication skills, and system-level perspective, you contribute not only to successful project delivery but also to the continued growth of the department and Demcon as a whole.

What do you bring to the table?

• Completed bachelor or university education in mechanical engineering;
• At least 5 years of relevant work experience as a mechanical (lead) engineer, in the development of high-tech or medical systems and/or (complex) special machine construction;
• Excellent analytical skills, knowledge of 3D CAD (including SolidWorks), knowledge of fine mechanical construction principles, analysis methods and DFX;
• You are entrepreneurial and creative, recognize and translate technical problems or new technical developments into working (mechanical) solutions;
• Enthusiasm and flexibility, show initiative and perseverance, are customer-oriented and possess good communication skills;
• Fluent command of Dutch and English.
