Job summary

Qualifications

• University/Bachelor's Degree in engineering or related technical discipline.
• 5-7 years of relevant work experience.
• Trained FPX Project Lead.
• VCA-VOL Qualification (Diploma).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for internal and external stakeholders.
• Excellent analytical skills to identify gaps and develop solutions.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision to meet deadlines.

Job Title: Project Engineer - Project Lead Pillar

Position Overview

The employee is acquainted with the annual company and division goals and is aware of how he/she can influence these through his/her performance. This position can execute two distinct pathways across engineering projects: Lead Engineer and Project Lead.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Acts as Core Team Member in medium/high complexity projects, representing all engineering disciplines and coordinating the complete engineering scope with other involved engineers.
• Provides technical support for project planning, development, implementation, and modification.
• Exercises independent judgment on significant details of work, making selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives.
• Performs work involving complex conventional types of plans, investigations, surveys, structures, or equipment with highly complex features for which there may be no precedents.
• Performs applicable GXP requirements (e.g., Change Control).
• Checks and approves drawings and calculations for design or construction, verifying that design aligns with Dutch, European, and Janssen Biologics standards.
• Manages progress and quality with external engineering firms, on-site contractors, and internal stakeholders.
• Coordinates modifications with stakeholders and participates in Management of Change (MOC) to ensure proper execution.
• Manages medium-complexity capital investment projects according to the Engineering Process from feasibility through project closure.
• Develops timelines, oversees activities for the entire project team, and takes ultimate responsibility for project completion.
• Supports the project sponsor in defining the core business need and business solution.
• Defines and manages final project objectives, scope, budget, and project schedules.
• Ensures rigorous documentation of all project activities and deliverables.
• Ensures project implementation meets all applicable GXP requirements (e.g., Change Control).
• Builds and leads cross-functional project teams (both internal and external to engineering) to achieve project goals.
• Communicates with sponsors and stakeholders on project progress in person and through portfolio management systems.
• Manages client expectations with respect to safety, quality, reliability, time, and budget constraints.
• Manages project contracts and purchase orders (POs).
• Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational seminars and trade shows, reviewing technical publications, analyzing industry trends, and establishing professional networks.

Non-Negotiable Skills, Qualifications, and Experience

• University/Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in engineering or a related technical discipline.
• 5-7 years of relevant work experience.
• Trained FPX Project Lead.
• VCA-VOL Qualification (Diploma).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external customers.
• Excellent analytical skills to identify gaps, determine root causes of issues, and think creatively to develop solutions.
