Medtronic is seeking a Principal Financial Analyst to lead Service & Repair finance process improvements in a global environment. You will connect accounting, operations, and IT with SAP capabilities to streamline processes, improve data quality and strengthen controls.

You will collaborate across Finance, Accounting, Operations and IT, driving automation, standardisation and financial governance to ensure compliant, sustainable solutions.

Qualifications

  • 8-10 years of experience in finance, accounting, controllership, finance transformation or process improvement.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting processes in ERP, preferably SAP, incl. GL, postings, reconciliations and reporting.
  • Understanding of service operations and transaction-intensive business models.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a global SME for Service & Repair accounting processes (orders, repairs, inventory, revenue, warranty).
  • Analyze end-to-end finance processes and SAP flows to identify gaps and data-quality issues.
  • Translate requirements into clear process designs, testing, and control documentation.
  • Lead or support SAP improvements covering master data, postings, workflows, and interfaces.
  • Drive harmonisation of accounting processes across regions with global standards.

As a Principal Financial Analyst - Service & Repair Finance Process Improvement, you will act as a global finance subject matter expert, improving and standardising accounting and finance processes supporting the Service & Repair organisation. You will connect accounting requirements, business operations, data and SAP capabilities to simplify processes, improve data quality and strengthen financial controls. Working across Finance, Accounting, Operations and IT, you will lead process improvements, automation and harmonisation initiatives in a complex global environment.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:
  • Act as a global subject matter expert for Service & Repair accounting processes, including service orders, repairs, parts and inventory, revenue and costs, warranty, intercompany activities, accruals and month-end close.
  • Analyse end-to-end finance processes and SAP transaction flows to identify gaps, manual activities, control weaknesses, data-quality issues and opportunities for improvement.
  • Translate business and accounting requirements into clear process designs, functional requirements, testing scenarios, procedures and control documentation.
  • Lead or support SAP improvements covering master data, automated postings, account determination, workflows, interfaces, reporting and exception handling.
  • Drive harmonisation of accounting processes across regions, balancing global standards with appropriate local requirements.
  • Partner with Finance, Accounting, IT, Operations, Global Process Owners and other stakeholders to implement practical, compliant and sustainable solutions.
  • Improve month-end and year-end processes by reducing manual work, strengthening reconciliations and resolving recurring issues through root-cause analysis.
  • Establish process governance and performance measures, provide management reporting and recommendations, and identify further opportunities for standardisation, automation and continuous improvement.
Required Knowledge and Experience:
  • 8-10 years of progressive experience in finance, accounting, controllership, finance transformation or process improvement.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting processes within an ERP environment, preferably SAP, including General Ledger, automated postings, account determination, reconciliations and financial reporting.
  • Solid understanding of service operations, repair, aftermarket, field service, inventory, parts, warranty or similar transaction-intensive business models.
  • Proven ability to lead or contribute to global process harmonisation, finance transformation, automation or continuous-improvement initiatives.
  • Strong process analysis and problem-solving skills, including documenting current and future processes, defining requirements and performing root-cause analysis.
  • Understanding of financial controls, compliance requirements and the impact of process and system changes on financial reporting.
  • Strong Excel skills and confidence working with large or complex financial and operational datasets.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to influence across functions, regions and levels in a global matrix environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • SAP implementation, testing, release management or issue-resolution exposure.
  • Familiarity with Power BI, Power Query, SQL, data visualisation or similar analytical tools.
  • Background in finance transformation, shared services or global process ownership.
  • Professional qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CPA, CMA or equivalent.
  • Experience working with Service & Repair, field service, aftermarket or medical device operations.
  • Ability to translate complex accounting and SAP topics into clear business implications and practical actions.
  • Experience developing training materials, procedures and change-management communications.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Information Systems or a related field.
