Job summary

Booking.com is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead the AI Application Platform and intelligence products. You will shape technical vision, set architectural guidelines, and drive end-to-end AI/ML systems across the Marketplace data and AI stack.

You will partner with product, data science, and platform teams to deliver scalable, high-impact solutions at Booking.com's Amsterdam HQ, with a strong emphasis on experimentation and business outcomes.

Qualifications

10+ years of software development experience with leadership responsibilities.
Proven track record driving complex technical initiatives at scale.
Hands-on experience building and operating production ML/AI systems.
Experience with GenAI and foundation models in production contexts.
Fluency across data and AI stack, from pipelines to model serving.

Responsibilities

Lead scoping and redesign of systems impacting Booking.com's AI capabilities.
Define engineering patterns and standards across AI/ML lifecycle.
Drive technical direction of the AI Application Platform.
Translate ideas into artifacts, requirements, and guiding principles.
Serve as tech lead on cross-team projects.
Develop technical strategy and architectural guiding principles for aligned teams.
Hands-on prototyping of new technologies when required.
Guide implementation of strategic decisions in cross-functional teams.
Collaborate with product owners and engineers to build scalable, resilient applications.
