Job summary

Clarksons Netherlands B.V. in Rotterdam is seeking an Operator for the Specialised Products team. The role requires handling day-to-day operational duties and coordinating with brokers, owners, and charterers on ships and cargo.

The successful candidate will have at least one year of shipping experience, be fluent in Dutch and English, and be highly organised with strong communication and data entry skills. Flexibility for outside-hours work is expected.

We have an excellent opportunity join for an Operator to join our Specialised Products team in Rotterdam. The successful candidate will be required to manage a variety of post –fixture related duties for the Specialised Products department. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of one year+ experience in shipping and speak fluent Dutch and English.

What you’ll be doing

• Undertake day-to-day operational duties.
• Liaise with brokers / counterparties / owners / charterers with regards to operational matters on ships and / or cargo.
• Monitor voyages and input data into internal operations system.
• Check recaps / charter parties.
• Review freight / hire invoices and ensure accuracy prior to submitting to Charterers. Also ensure that they are issued on time, and that payment is made in a timely manner.
• Liaise with accounts team with regards to issuance of commissions invoice.
• Ensure any declarations are noted and diarised.
• Communicate declarations with clients prior to expiration.
• Chase for and check load / discharge / proceeding orders.
• Follow up on and log load and discharge port documentation.
• Ensuring LOI’s are issued timely.
• Analyse and provide solutions to any issues faced by clients/ships/cargoes.
• Provide assistance to our chartering team.
• Additional / ad hoc duties as required to meet the needs of the business.

Other requirements

• Minimum one year+ experience in Shipping
• Operational experience within shipping is beneficial but not mandatory
• Fluent in Dutch and English
• Strong communicator, both verbal and written, and able to build strong relationships
• Highly organised with excellent time management skills
• Strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail
• Self-motivated, diligent and able to work well under pressure
• Flexible and willing to work out of office hours and weekends as required
• Good knowledge in MS office (word, excel, powerpoint)
