The next Globetrotter is seeking a Software Engineer Robotics & PLC to contribute to advanced automation and robotic systems in the Netherlands. You will develop PLC software and robot control, test on live machinery and optimise movements across multiple platforms.
You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, support FAT and commissioning, and participate in a dynamic environment with relocation and visa support options from the employer.
As a Software Engineer Robotics & PLC, you will work on the software behind advanced industrial automation and robotic systems. You will be involved in projects from the programming stage through testing, commissioning and final implementation at the customer. Your work combines PLC programming, industrial robotics and hands-on commissioning. Rather than developing software without seeing the final result, you will work closely with the actual machines and robotic systems you programme.
You will develop software for PLC-controlled installations and industrial robots, test the software during the construction and integration of new systems, and optimise robot movements and automated processes. You will work with various robot platforms, including FANUC, ABB and Yaskawa, as well as simulation tools used during software development. Once the system has been assembled, you will be involved in testing and commissioning.
This includes troubleshooting, adjusting the software where necessary and ensuring that the complete installation performs according to the required specifications. ]
You will be joining a specialised machine-building and system integration company in the Netherlands that develops customised automation solutions for production and logistics environments.
The organisation brings several technical disciplines together, including robotics, industrial software, electrical engineering and mechanical engineering. Complete systems are engineered, built, programmed and tested by multidisciplinary technical teams.
Projects range from smaller customised automation solutions to complete robotic production lines and turnkey installations. Because much of the engineering, programming and assembly takes place within the same technical environment, you will have direct exposure to the machines and systems you are developing software for.
The company works across different industries, meaning projects and technical challenges vary considerably. This is particularly suited to an engineer who enjoys the combination of software development and practical engineering, rather than working exclusively behind a desk
Relevant technical qualification in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Automation, Control Engineering or a related field
Experience or practical knowledge of PLC programming and/or industrial robot programming
Strong interest in industrial automation, robotics and machine building
Experience with industrial robots is advantageous
Experience with FANUC, ABB and/or Yaskawa would be beneficial
Comfortable testing software directly on machinery and robotic installations
Able to troubleshoot and optimise software during machine testing
Willing to travel to customer locations for commissioning and implementation
Comfortable working in a multidisciplinary engineering environment
Able to communicate technical information clearly to operators, technicians and engineering colleagues
Practical and analytical approach to problem-solving
You do not necessarily need experience with every robot platform; candidates with a strong automation foundation and the ability to learn new systems are encouraged to apply
A challenging full-time position in an informal working environment that is constantly evolving. Society is changing rapidly and we continuously respond to these changes. Standing still is not an option and quality and innovation are high on our agenda. Especially if we want to make an essential contribution to social interests.
