Job summary

A leading technology company in Gelderland is seeking an experienced PLC Engineer to design, develop, and test PLC control systems for mechatronic installations. You will work closely with R&D, commission machinery both in Europe and internationally, and ensure optimal system performance. The ideal candidate holds an HBO degree in a relevant field and possesses strong programming and communication skills in Dutch and English. Qualifications

If you’re a PLC Engineer, you know there’s a big difference between just writing code and actually seeing a complex mechatronic system come to life. We’re looking for someone who enjoys the transition from software development to hands‑on commissioning, particularly when it involves collaborating across international borders to get the job done.

About the Role

As an Experienced PLC Engineer, you will play a key role in the design, development, testing, and commissioning of PLC control systems for advanced intralogistics and sortation solutions. Working closely with R&D and engineering colleagues, you will contribute to both new developments and the continuous improvement of existing systems.

Your work will take you from software design and documentation to on‑site commissioning, both in Europe and internationally, where you will help ensure systems perform reliably and efficiently for customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, program, test, and optimise PLC control systems for mechatronic installations
• Develop new software solutions in collaboration with R&D and other engineering disciplines
• Analyse and resolve faults, implement modifications, and improve existing systems
• Commission machines on‑site and support system start‑up activities
• Provide clear instructions and technical explanations to customer teams during commissioning
• Maintain accurate technical documentation and follow quality and safety standards
• Communicate progress, risks, and improvements clearly within the project team

What We’re Looking For

• Completed HBO degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Control Engineering, or Industrial Automation
• Proven experience programming PLC‑controlled mechatronic systems
• Strong knowledge of Siemens TIA Portal (Beckhoff or Codesys experience is a plus)
• Experience with machine commissioning
• Intralogistics experience is an advantage
• Strong analytical skills and a structured, solution‑oriented mindset
• Able to work independently while collaborating effectively in a team
• Clear communicator with good command of both Dutch and English
• Available full‑time (40 hours per week)
• Willing to travel abroad several times a year for commissioning activities
• Willing to participate in on‑call rotations
