Planet is hiring for a full-time, hybrid Platform engineer based in Haarlem. You will develop and deploy large-scale services and APIs in Go, Python, or Java, with a strong customer focus.

The role emphasizes collaboration across cross-functional teams, code quality, observability, and on-call reliability across multiple time zones. You’ll work in a distributed European and North American team, participate in on-sites, and contribute to AI-assisted development practices.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of software development in a production environment (Python/Java/Go).
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
• Solid understanding of software engineering best practices and development methodologies.
• Familiarity with GCP or AWS; Docker and Kubernetes experience.

Responsibilities

• Build, deploy, and maintain large-scale services and APIs with high availability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align product and engineering goals.
• Write clean, well-documented production code and participate in code reviews.
• Operate APIs and services with Site Reliability Engineering practices.
