Job summary

Planet is seeking a senior software engineer to join our Platform teams, developing and deploying imagery access and analysis capabilities. You will work across Go, Python, and Java, building scalable APIs with a strong customer focus and observable production systems.

The role is full-time and hybrid, requiring presence at the Haarlem office three days per week, with global collaboration across Europe and North America.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of software development experience in production environments.
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with Python, Java and/or Go.
• Familiarity with GCP or AWS.
• Experience with relational databases, document stores, and key-value stores.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Build, deploy and maintain large-scale distributed services and APIs in Go, Java and/or Python.
• Collaborate with engineers and product managers across cross-functional teams.
• Write high-quality, well-documented production code and participate in code reviews.
• Operate APIs and services with Site Reliability Engineering practices, including monitoring, alerts, and runbooks.
• Contribute to on-call rotations and incident response.
• Adopt AI tooling appropriately throughout the development lifecycle.
