Platform Mechanical Architect for Heat Pumps

Job summary

Weheat in Duizel is building the next generation of heat pumps and seeks a Mechanical Architect to define and guard the mechanical architecture across generations. You will own interfaces and collaborate with heat loop, control, firmware and installers to deliver scalable, production-ready designs.

You will work hands-on with design, CFD/FEA, and Siemens NX while supporting in-house manufacturing capabilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• 8+ years of experience in mechanical design of technical products with architectural ownership.
• Domain knowledge of heat pumps, chillers, AC systems or industrial refrigeration installations.
• Fluent in norms and compliance: EN 378, EN 60335-2-40, EN 14511/14825, EN 12102, PED, F-gas, ErP, EMC.

Responsibilities

• Define the mechanical architecture of the platform: refrigerant circuit layout, frame, enclosure, acoustic build-up, hydraulic connections, ingress protection and serviceability.
• Translate norms and compliance into concrete design rules and align with heat loop and control needs.
• Design sensor positions, actuator choices and fault-detection observability with cross-functional teams.
• Set thermal, vibration and EMC budgets for electronics enclosure with power electronics and firmware.
• Build the Swift heat pump with architectural challenges: acoustic damping and installation by installers.
• Design, simulate (CFD/FEA) and validate in Siemens NX.
• Co-shape industrialisation: tooling choice, machining strategy, production automation.
• Deliver architectural input into roadmap and cost models.
