Job description

At Weheat, we are building the next generation of heat pumps: cleaner, smarter, and affordable for as many households as possible. From our high-tech facilities in Duizel (Eindhoven region), we develop, test, and manufacture our own heat pumps—from initial concept to scalable production.

In Duizel, everything comes together: engineering, prototyping, testing, and production. You work here daily with other engineers, close to the hardware and real-world application. We work closely with our hub in Utrecht, but strongly believe in on-site collaboration when it comes to complex technology. Our culture is down-to-earth and ambitious, with a strong sense of ownership, short lines of communication, and a clear focus on progress.

Weheat is re-engineering the heat pump from the printed circuit board up, making home heating cleaner, smarter, and affordable. From our facilities in the Eindhoven region and our hub in the center of Utrecht, we design, build, and continuously improve our own heat pumps. Our culture is down-to-earth and ambitious: we value data over opinion, rigorous engineering over quick fixes, and progress over process.

Every Weheat heat pump in the field generates high-frequency telemetry, performance data, energy usage, system behavior. Our software layer, Weheat Intelligence, uses this data to optimize for the cheapest energy moments, turn the home into a thermal battery, and learn how each house heats and cools. As our fleet grows, so does the need for a reliable, well-structured data platform underneath it all. That platform is your domain.

Your Mission

You design, build, and evolve the data platform that powers Weheat. You bring structure, reliability, and clarity to a data landscape that spans heat pump telemetry, energy optimization, fleet analytics, and business intelligence. Your work is the backbone every engineer, analyst, and product team builds on.

But building the platform is only half the job. We believe a good data engineer doesn't just move data from A to B, you also know what to measure, how to measure it correctly, and when a number is telling the wrong story. You're the person who checks whether the mean is misleading, whether the right outliers are included, and whether the time window actually supports the conclusion.

The Challenge
  • Full-Scope Data Platform: Architect and manage the platform that connects heat pump telemetry with business domains like sales, support, and operations, using Databricks and modern data tooling
  • High-Throughput Telemetry: Build and maintain real-time and batch pipelines that process high-volume heat pump telemetry, including streaming algorithms for live health monitoring, anomaly detection, and fleet-wide diagnostics.
  • Scalable Architecture: CDesign storage layers and governance that serve diverse consumers from data scientists to business teams, each with different latency and shape requirements
  • AI-Ready Infrastructure: Structure the data platform with the semantic clarity, metadata, and tooling readiness that enables AI-driven analytics, so that as the technology matures, Weheat is ready to adopt it, not retrofit for it
  • Analytical Judgment: Turn raw data into trustworthy metrics and actionable insights, choosing the right statistical methods, challenging assumptions, and making complex findings clear for every stakeholder
  • Team & Leadership: Be the voice that sets the standard for how Weheat thinks about data, mentor a growing team, shape the roadmap, and build a culture where every decision starts with the right number
About Weheat

Weheat is re-engineering the heat pump from the printed circuit board up. Based in our Smart Factory in Eindhoven and our Commercial & Digital Hub in Utrecht, we combine high-tech hardware with intelligent software to accelerate the energy transition. We operate with a flat structure and a focus on scientific first principles: we value data over opinion and rigorous engineering over quick fixes.

What we offer
  • The opportunity to work on complex, physical problems with direct societal impact (CO2 reduction/Grid Stability).
  • A collaborative environment with a high density of technical talent (MSc/PhD level).
  • Autonomy to define the technical roadmap within your domain.
  • Competitive compensation and the opportunity to grow with a future European market leader.
Your Profile
  • Strong background in data engineering and distributed data systems
  • Experience designing and building data platforms that serve multiple domains and stakeholders, not just a single use case
  • Skilled in reliable ETL/ELT, data lakes, or data warehouses at scale
  • Experience with time-series pipelines, streaming, or IoT-scale architectures
  • Strong communicator who can work across engineering, operations, sales, and finance without losing technical depth
  • Proactive mindset: you think ahead and build for scale, reliability, and clarity
  • Bonus: experience in energy, manufacturing, telemetry, or embedded/real-time systems
