Platform Engineer - AWS – up to 100K – Rotterdam / Hybrid
As a Platform Engineer (AWS), do you want to build the central cloud platform for the digital engine behind the Dutch ports? Does it sound interesting to you to further develop an AWS landing zone, centralize cloud networks, and implement security standards organization-wide? Then read on!
My client is building a central AWS landing zone where all teams run their workloads. You will help implement, optimize, and manage this environment, with a focus on AWS networking, security, and standardization.
With over 90 million transactions annually via 40+ services, they play a crucial role in the international supply chain.
What will you be doing?
- Designing, implementing, and managing our central AWS landing zone;
- Setting up and optimizing a centralized network architecture (including VPCs, Transit Gateway);
- Implementing AWS Organizations and Service Control Policies (SCPs);
- Automating infrastructure with Terraform (Infrastructure as Code);
- Setting up AWS security services such as GuardDuty and Security Hub; Migrating teams and workloads to the landing zone, together with the relevant Scrum teams.

- Team Cloud Infrastructure & Networking develops and manages a central AWS environment. Whereas teams previously set up their cloud infrastructure independently, my client is now moving towards a highly centralized and standardized platform.
- We are building an organization-wide landing zone, migrating teams to it, and working on further professionalizing our cloud environment. Networking, security, and cloud governance are central to this.

What do you bring to the table?
- Higher professional education (HBO) or university (WO) working and thinking level;
- Demonstrable experience with AWS (focus on networking & security);
- Experience with VPCs, Transit Gateway;
- Experience with Terraform (Infrastructure as Code);
- Knowledge of cloud security principles (least privilege, segmentation);
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment; Affinity with standardization and working within central platform guidelines;
- Knowledge of observability (monitoring, logging, tracing) is a plus.
