Job summary

West Ottawa Public Schools is seeking an Educational Assistant to support instructional activities at Great Lakes Elementary. This part-time position focuses on helping students in grades K-5, with a 29.5-hour week schedule, Monday through Friday.

Starting August 27, 2026, the assistant will report to the principal and assist with reading and math groups, classroom organization, playground supervision, and behavior support.

Qualifications

• Flexible and able to adjust quickly to the needs of the day.
• Supervises students at play-time on the playground and maintains a harmonious atmosphere on the playground.
• Performs any other tasks as deemed appropriate by the building principal and/or the teacher

Responsibilities

• Lead student reading and math groups.
• Organize and maintain school supply orders.
• Monitor recess and lunch, outdoors, daily.
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to ensure school safety protocols are followed.
• Assist with student behaviors/management.
• Other duties as assigned by the school administrator
