West Ottawa Public Schools is seeking an After School Child Care Assistant for Riley Farms Elementary Schools. The role involves supervising children during after-care, leading activities, and assisting with morning routines.

The position is school-year, part-time, with hours from 3:30 PM to 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Qualifications include passing a criminal background check (CCBC), CPR and First Aid certification, and commitment to annual training on safety and child development.

Qualifications

• Background check through Michigan State Police and FBI; CCBC registration
• Current CPR certification required
• Current First Aid certification required
• Ongoing annual training on child abuse/neglect and safety procedures

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision to ensure safety during after care (2-hour period)
• Lead age-appropriate activities (games, crafts, reading)
• Assist with morning routines and organizing personal items
• Promote a positive, respectful environment and manage behavior; contact parents with concerns
• Communicate with parents at drop-off/pick-up with brief updates as needed
• Collaborate with school staff for smooth transition to regular school day
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe space
• Follow school policies, health regulations, and safety protocols
• Monitor attendance and document staff and student numbers weekly
