Job summary

West Ottawa Public Schools is seeking an EL Teacher to provide direct English Language Development instruction to English learners in grades YK-5. The role supports designated ELD settings and integrated ELD within core classes, collaborating with elementary teachers to promote language growth and academic achievement.

The position requires a Michigan ESL endorsement (NS) or bilingual Spanish endorsement (YF), plus an additional Elementary endorsement (ZG).

Qualifications

• Valid secondary State of MI teacher certificate with an ESL (NS) endorsement or bilingual Spanish (YF) endorsement.
• Additional Elementary (ZG) endorsement required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct English Language Development (ELD) instruction to ELs in grades YK-5 in designated ELD settings and integrated ELD settings.
• Collaborate with elementary content area teachers to support ELs within core classes.
• Utilize the WIDA ELD Standards Framework (2020) to incorporate English Language Development standards.
• Contribute to grade level data review meetings and PLCs.
• Support meaningful student and family engagement for multilingual learners.
• Leverage instructional technology to develop content comprehensibility and academic language.
• Administer EL assessments (including WIDA Screener & WIDA Access) and communicate results.
