Job summary

NTT DATA in the Netherlands is seeking an Oracle database engineer, specialist or architect to support complex Oracle database services with high-availability, recovery and performance technologies.

In this role you will monitor, tune and secure Oracle databases, implement backups/recovery, and participate in migrations and platform transformations across Linux/Unix environments. Senior staff may lead investigations into performance issues and architecture planning.

Qualifications

• Experience with Oracle database services and high-availability architectures.
• Ability to monitor, diagnose and tune Oracle performance and SQL.
• Experience with backups, recoveries and DR strategies.
• Familiarity with migrations and platform transformations.

Responsibilities

• Monitor Oracle databases, tablespaces, jobs, backups and performance.
• Resolve incidents affecting availability, connectivity, capacity and performance.
• Install, configure, patch and upgrade Oracle DB platforms.
• Manage backups and recovery using approved tools and procedures.
• Support Oracle RAC, Data Guard and resilience technologies.
• Perform database and SQL performance tuning.
• Administer database access, auditing and security controls.
• Support migrations, upgrades and platform transformations.
• Automate health checks and reporting.

The Oracle database engineer, specialist or architect supports complex Oracle database services and associated high-availability, recovery and performance technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor Oracle databases, tablespaces, jobs, backups and performance.
• Resolve incidents involving availability, connectivity, capacity and performance.
• Install, configure, patch and upgrade Oracle database platforms.
• Manage backup and recovery using approved tools and procedures.
• Support Oracle RAC, Data Guard and other resilience technologies.
• Perform database and SQL performance tuning.
• Administer database access, auditing and security controls.

• Automate health checks, reporting and recurring administration.
• Maintain database documentation, recovery procedures and configuration records.
• At senior levels, lead complex performance and recovery investigations.
• At L5, define Oracle database strategy, architecture and lifecycle plans.
