NTT DATA is seeking a Linux and Solaris engineer, specialist or architect to support and develop enterprise Unix and Linux environments, including secure, stable, and high-performing OS platforms across physical, virtualised, and cloud-connected environments.

The role involves monitoring and administering Linux and Solaris systems, incident resolution, patching, scripting, automation, and contributing to disaster recovery and security hardening efforts.

Qualifications

• Red Hat Enterprise Linux, SUSE, Ubuntu or equivalent distributions.
• Oracle Solaris.
• Shell scripting and automation.
• System performance and capacity management.
• Operating-system security and hardening.
• Networking, DNS, storage and file systems.
• Clustering and high-availability technologies.
• Configuration-management tools such as Ansible, Puppet or Chef.

Responsabilités

• Monitor and administer Linux and Solaris systems, across physical, virtualised and cloud environments.
• Resolve operating-system incidents, alerts, performance issues and service requests.
• Perform OS installation, configuration, patching and upgrades.
• Manage users, permissions, file systems, packages, services and system resources.
• Troubleshoot boot, network, storage, clustering and application-integrations issues.
• Support vulnerability remediation, hardening and compliance activities.
• Develop and maintain scripts that automate routine administration.
• Support backup, recovery, high availability and disaster-recovery testing.
• Analyse recurring incidents and implement permanent improvements.
• Maintain configuration records, runbooks and technical documentation.
• At L3 and L4, lead complex troubleshooting and platform-engineering activities.
• At L5, define Unix/Linux platform standards, reference architectures and lifecycle roadmaps.

Your day at NTT DATA

The Linux and Solaris engineer, specialist or architect supports and develops enterprise Unix and Linux environments. The role is responsible for maintaining secure, stable and high-performing operating-system platforms across physical, virtualised and cloud-connected environments.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and administer Linux and Solaris systems.

• Resolve operating-system incidents, alerts, performance issues and service requests.

• Perform operating-system installation, configuration, patching and upgrades.

• Manage users, permissions, file systems, packages, services and system resources.

• Troubleshoot boot, network, storage, clustering and application-integration issues.
