Job summary
NTS Optel is seeking a Team Lead Optical Engineering to build and grow its optical engineering competence while staying hands-on technically. You will lead and develop a team of optical engineers, own technical direction for optical systems, and drive from concept to validation on customer projects.
You will translate requirements into optical concepts, design and verify solutions, and work with multidisciplinary teams to push advanced high-tech products to success.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience developing optical systems, instruments or modules.
- Expertise in optical design, modelling and simulation, preferably Zemax.
- Hands-on experience with optical system integration, alignment and performance characterization.
- Experience in product development, including prototyping, verification and validation.
- Strong communication and collaboration with customers and multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience leading or coaching engineers is an advantage.
Responsibilities
- Lead, coach and develop the optical engineering team, supporting recruitment, onboarding, professional growth and knowledge sharing.
- Develop optical engineering capabilities to meet project needs.
- Translate customer and system requirements into optical concepts, specifications and solutions.
- Design, model, simulate and optimize optical systems and modules, preferably using Zemax.
- Select and specify optical components and subsystems to meet requirements.
- Lead optical system integration, alignment, and performance verification/validation.
- Collaborate with mechanics, mechatronics, electronics, software and project management while improving engineering quality.
