Job summary

NTS Optel Nijmegen is seeking an Optical Design Engineer to develop high-tech optical modules and systems for diverse markets. You will translate customer requirements into feasible optical concepts, validate prototypes in our labs, and support projects from development to high-tech integration.

Requirements include a Master’s or PhD in engineering/physics and at least 2 years in optical design with Zemax. A mechatronics background is a plus.

Qualifications

Master's or PhD in Engineering or Physics required.
At least 2 years of experience in optical design and simulation, preferably with Zemax.
Background in mechatronics, opto-mechanics or machinery is a plus.
Strong analytical, communication and social skills; able to work with customers and teams.
Proactive, able to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

Develop and design high-tech optical modules and systems for different markets and applications.
Translate customer requirements into realizable optical concepts and demonstrate feasibility via lab testing.
Perform optical design and simulations using ray-tracing and Zemax; contribute to image/signal processing.
Validate prototypes and support development, installation and commissioning at customer locations.
Collaborate with project managers, system architects, customers, partners and suppliers to solve challenges.
Stay updated with latest optical engineering developments and apply new technologies.
Work in a small, multidisciplinary team and contribute ideas.
