Job summary

AddOptics in Rotterdam is seeking a hands-on Mechanical Engineer to join our engineering team. You will own mechanical development projects, design prototypes, tooling and processes, and validate results through experiments and metrology.

Responsibilities include developing product designs end-to-end, designing with materials and tolerances in mind, and iterating parts using in-house fabrication and casting capabilities. English proficiency is required.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on mechanical engineering experience.
• BSc/BEng or MSc in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related engineering field.
• Proficient in 3D CAD and experience creating technical drawings, GD&T, and designing for manufacturing.
• Hands-on fabrication experience from prototyping to collaboration with high-volume part suppliers.
• Experience with precision measurement and metrology methods.
• Ability to decipher conflicting outcomes and adapt to changing requirements.
• Professional working proficiency in English.

Responsibilities

• Own mechanical development projects from problem definition through validation of results as part of the engineering team.
• Develop prototype product designs, tooling, processes improvements, and implement them into a production process.
• Design backwards from end-product requirements, considering materials, tolerances, manufacturing capabilities, and metrology.
• Design and run structured experiments that produce actionable conclusions.
• Make, assemble, test, and iterate parts using in-house fabrication and casting capabilities.
