Job summary

GXO Logistics is seeking an experienced Operations Manager for our Lelystad distribution centre to lead a 24/7 outbound and dispatch operation, guiding large teams across rotating shifts and driving performance.

You will develop people, embed a strong safety culture, and use data to turn insights into actions, reporting to the Head of Operations in a high-visibility role within one of the Netherlands' most advanced logistics hubs.

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience in a complex, high‑volume warehouse or supply chain environment.
• Proven experience of managing Managers and leading/ developing large teams (50+ employees).
• Strong communication in English; Dutch or Spanish a plus.

• Lead daily operational execution within your rotation, ensuring safe, compliant and efficient outbound and dispatch activities.
• Drive performance through KPIs, dashboards and data insights, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
• Champion LEAN, continuous improvement and process standardisation for scalable operations.
• Coach and develop Warehouse Managers and their teams, including performance management and succession planning.
• Plan and allocate staff, workload and resources across shifts in collaboration with support functions and the customer.
• Create a safe, inclusive working environment with up-to-date procedures and compliance.

Your role as Operations Manager

As Operations Manager, you are accountable for end‑to‑end execution within your shift and for contributing to overall site performance. Your responsibilities include:

• Leading daily operational execution within your rotation, ensuring safe, compliant and efficient outbound and dispatch activities
• Driving performance through KPIs, dashboards and data insights, identifying root causes and implementing corrective and preventive actions
• Championing LEAN, continuous improvement and process standardisation, ensuring operations remain scalable and consistent
• Coaching and developing Warehouse Managers and their teams, including performance management, training and succession planning
• Planning and allocating staff, workload and resources across shifts in close collaboration with support functions and the customer
• Creating a safe, inclusive and engaging working environment, maintaining up‑to‑date procedures, documentation and compliance standards
• Working closely with and reporting directly to the Head of Operations, aligning on priorities, performance expectations and execution

What we’re looking for

You bring senior operational experience and a strong leadership mindset. You ideally have:

• 5+ years’ experience in a complex, high‑volume warehouse or supply chain environment, ideally with exposure to automation
• Proven experience of managing Managers and leading/ developing large teams (50+ employees) with the ability to influence across multiple levels
• Strong communication skills in English (additional languages such as Dutch, or Spanish are a plus)
• A hands‑on, resilient and results‑driven approach, with the ability to perform under pressure without compromising standards
• Strong analytical, reporting and financial understanding, with the ability to turn data into action
• A continuous improvement mindset and a genuine motivation to grow — personally and professionally
• Ability to work shifts which includes nights and weekends (Shift allowance is payable)
