Overview

NetSuite Functional Consultant (Contract)

Location: The Hague, 2 days a week

Our Client

They are undertaking a strategic upgrade of their financial and analytical framework within NetSuite. A key focus is redesigning their cost center and dimensional structure to better support financial workflows and in-country strategy execution. They’re seeking an experienced NetSuite Functional Consultant to lead this transformation from design through implementation and testing.

The Role

The consultant will support our Finance, IT, Data, and ERP teams in:

• Redesigning and optimizing NetSuite’s cost center and dimensional structure.
• Leveraging NetSuite's full analytical capabilities to enhance financial workflows.
• Implementing a new aggregation-level structure with accurate cost allocations by organizational unit/team.
• Aligning financial processes (accounting, revenue recognition, forecasting, reporting, audit) with the system’s architecture.
• Delivering a reliable, fully tested solution by October and December 2025 milestones.

The consultant will work closely with:

• Finance (Accounting & Business Control)
• IT and Data Teams
• Transformation Office (TFO)
• ERP Technical Team / External NetSuite Integrators

Responsibilities

• Review & Redesign of Analytical Structure
• Evaluate the current setup of cost centers and dimensions.
• Design an optimized structure using NetSuite’s class, department, location, and custom segment features.
• Develop a cost allocation model supporting both detailed and summary-level reporting.
• Ensure data migration planning and audit trail readiness.
• Lead configuration, testing, user validation, and rollout.
• Implementation of Additional Analytical Dimension
• Design and implement a new aggregated cost layer (e.g., by team or unit).
• Set up allocation rules to distribute costs across organizational layers.
• Build processes for ongoing booking, monitoring, and reporting.
• Integrate with budgeting and forecasting systems.
• Alignment of Financial Processes
• Ensure compatibility of the new structure with:
• Dutch GAAP (ANBI status) and monthly close processes.
• Revenue recognition workflows and funder reporting.
• Internal management reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Diagnostic report with gap analysis of the current NetSuite setup.
• Design proposal for updated structure and allocation logic.
• Functional system configuration in NetSuite (with technical team support as needed).
• Testing plans, legacy data migration strategy, and validation protocols.
• Documentation of both current and new processes (aligned with BPMN best practices).
• User training materials and support for change management.

Required Experience & Skills

• 7+ years as a NetSuite functional consultant or ERP implementation specialist.
• Proven success in NetSuite ERP implementations (non-profit and/or commercial settings).
• Deep understanding of financial accounting, reporting, and process design within NetSuite.
• Strong expertise in setting up dimensions, cost centers, and reporting structures.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and cost allocation methodologies.
• Excellent cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Strong analytical, documentation, and communication abilities.
• Proactive problem-solver who can challenge assumptions and bring fresh perspectives.
