Job description

Ready to scale your career in a high-growth scale up where your results drive real world change?

We’re Sensorfact, Europe’s #1 smart monitoring platform for the industry, on a mission to make industry smarter, cleaner, and more efficient. Every day, our technology helps thousands of manufacturers cut energy waste, reduce costs, and lower carbon emissions through intelligent data insights and automation.

Today, we’ve joined forces with ABB, a global leader in electrification and automation. This partnership has propelled us onto the world stage, enabling us to expand rapidly and help more businesses optimize their energy efficiency, cut costs, and make a positive impact on the planet.

What you will do:

You will eliminate industrial waste by architecting the next generation of IoT solutions that bridge the gap between hardware and the cloud. As a primary enabler in this hardware enabled SaaS mission, you lead the end to end development of wireless sensor systems from initial research and customer pilots to managing a massive scalable fleet. You will work within cross functional teams to master embedded software and automated factory feedback while ensuring data science teams have the high quality insights needed to drive global efficiency.

In this role you will be part of the Predictive Maintenance team. In this proposition we help manufacturers prevent unplanned downtime by predicting maintenance needs before a machine fails. Our sensors continuously measure vibration and magnetic flux on industrial machines, and the patterns in that data reveal developing faults long before anyone on the floor would notice them. In this role you'll own the sensor side of that proposition: improving how sensors are installed on machines, raising the quality and reliability of the measurements, and moving analysis onto the device itself through edge computing algorithms.

Some of the things you will be doing in your day-to-day work will be:

  • Develop and maintain our embedded software on the gateway devices and sensors.

  • Optimizing sensor solutions based on product requirements.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and architect end-to-end IoT solutions that meet product goals and technical requirements.

  • Code reviews and provide feedback on your colleague's work.

  • Participate in brainstorming and ideation sessions to solve scalability challenges like, for example, different radiofrequency regulations worldwide or how to maintain and manage a diverse fleet of IoT devices.

What you bring:

Must have:

  • 3+ years of experience building software for (connected) devices, preferably with (industrial) IoT products based on real-time operating systems.

  • (Embedded) Linux user-space fundamental knowledge and experience.

  • You have hands-on experience developing embedded software for MCUs and SoCs running an RTOS (e.g. Zephyr, FreeRTOS). Experience with Nordic Semiconductor (nRF52/nRF53) or Espressif (ESP32) platforms is a strong plus.

  • Experience wireless protocols such as Wi-Fi and BLE.

  • Working knowledge of bootloaders and OTA update flows (MCUboot, ESP-IDF bootloader).

  • You have a basic understanding of networking fundamentals — the TCP/IP stack, IP addressing and subnetting, TCP vs UDP trade-offs, DNS, and TLS — and you can reason about them from an embedded device's perspective.

  • Strong RTOS fundamentals: scheduling and priorities, synchronisation primitives, ISR design, and debugging race conditions and timing issues

  • You are comfortable in a growing, changing environment; even more than that, you thrive in these. We are a product-driven company, so customer impact is what guides us, engineering sustainability and excellence is what fuels us.

  • You like an effective and clear communication style and work well with colleagues from different backgrounds and expertise.

  • (Embedded) Linux experience

Nice to have:

  • Have an MSc level education, preferably in a technical field, preferably specializing in embedded systems, industrial technology, or similar.

  • Have experience optimizing power consumption on battery-powered devices.

  • You are familiar with electronics design (enough to read schematics and debug a board).

  • Comfortable at the bench: oscilloscope, logic analyzer, multimeter, and power measurement tools such as the Nordic Power Profiler Kit (PPK2), alongside SWD/JTAG debuggers and trace for chasing down firmware issues in hardware.

  • Demonstrable working experience with IoT-specific communication protocols.

  • Previous experience in IoT system architecture and design.

Why you will love working here:

  • Grow your career as we scale

  • Pension Contribution of 4% with an employer sponsored retirement plan

  • Public transport allowance via NS business card

  • Employee Referral Incentives up to €3,000 for a successful referral

  • 27 Vacation Days to rest and recharge

  • Remote Work Flexibility up to 2 months/year (with manager approval)

  • Structured Onboarding & Mentorship support

  • Social Events like Sensorfact Week & team dinners

  • Office Perks like unlimited coffee, snacks, and free Friday lunch

On top of that…We offer you the usual: a contract for 32-40 hours per week. Maximum flexibility regarding working from home/office: You decide where the best and most efficient workplace is. An open culture where you get a lot of freedom and where taking ownership is valued and encouraged. We value our craftsmanship, but at the same time, pragmatism is one of our core values.
