Overview

Are you passionate about designing hardware that powers real-world impact? Do you thrive on building robust electronics that perform in extreme environments and enable global pharmaceutical logistics? If so, join us as a Hardware Engineer and help us deliver life-saving medicines to patients around the world.

At SkyCell, we're on a mission to change the world by revolutionizing the global supply chain. Our cutting-edge temperature-controlled container solutions are designed to ensure the safe and secure delivery of life-saving pharmaceuticals, with sustainability at the core of everything we do.

We're a fast-growing, purpose-driven scale-up where you'll make an impact, feel empowered, and thrive in a diverse, innovative environment.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the design and development of electronics for our IoT loggers, gateways, and sensor modules.
  • Own hardware architecture, schematic capture, PCB layout, and component selection.
  • Bring up and validate new hardware using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and debugging tools (JTAG, SWD).
  • Coordinate and support EMC, RF, and environmental certification processes (CE, FCC, IEC).
  • Collaborate with firmware engineers on driver development, peripheral integration, and bootloaders.
  • Support firmware and Python tooling development for embedded microcontrollers.
  • Integrate wireless modules (BLE, LTE-M, LoRa, Wi-Fi) and validate RF performance and antenna placement.
  • Guide hardware documentation, manufacturing test strategies, and lifecycle management.
  • Continuously improve products through hardware revisions and firmware optimisations.
  • Work with industrialisation engineers to ensure design for manufacturing and smooth production handover.
  • Prepare manufacturing deliverables including Gerber files, fabrication outputs, and documentation.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience designing and validating embedded hardware (IoT, wearables, medical, etc.).
  • Proficiency in schematic capture, PCB layout, and design tools (Altium, KiCad, Mentor).
  • Hands-on experience with hardware debugging and board bring-up.
  • Solid understanding of wireless standards (BLE, LTE-M, LoRa, Wi-Fi) and RF integration.
  • Experience with ultra-low-power design principles.
  • Strong grasp of design for manufacturing (DFM) and collaboration with industrialisation teams.
  • Familiarity with PCB fabrication and preparation of complete manufacturing packages.
  • Language: EN.
Nice to Have
  • Experience coordinating EMC, RF, or environmental certifications with external labs.
  • Experience with peripheral driver development and RTOS.
  • Python scripting for test automation, lab measurements, or firmware tooling.
  • Low-level firmware development in C or C++.
  • Familiarity with secure boot, cryptographic components, or OTA firmware updates.
  • Background in regulated industries such as pharmaceutical logistics, cold-chain, or medical tech.
Benefits
  • Flexibility & Balance: Flexible working hours and work-life balance to fit your life.
  • Recognition & Growth: Opportunities for career advancement in a company that values your contributions.
  • Remote role with opportunities for ad hoc face-to-face interactions to inspire collaboration among a globally diverse team.
  • Company-wide events to celebrate successes, build teams, and share our vision. Onboarding includes SkyWeek for new joiners.
  • Generous maternity & paternity leave to support new parents.
  • Annual leave & local bank holidays to recharge and unwind.
