Job summary

Lefebvre Sdu is looking for a medior AI engineer to help shape GenIA-L, the European legal knowledge platform. Based in The Hague, you’ll build and improve agents, curate knowledge packages, and ensure correct source attribution in production systems.

You’ll work with editors and lawyers, translate legal processes into reliable technical pipelines, measure quality with observability, and push features like document analysis and advanced case-law search.

Qualifications

• Several years of experience in software or ML engineering.
• Strong knowledge of Python and ML libraries.
• Experience building production LLM applications, not just prototypes.
• Hands-on with agent frameworks (LangGraph, LangChain) and orchestration (MCP).
• Experience measuring quality with evaluation sets or observability (MLflow, LiteLLM a plus).
• Backend experience, including REST APIs.
• Experience in Kubernetes; Postgres is useful.
• Experience in a legal/tax or knowledge-intensive domain is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Build and improve GenIA-L agents and how they work together.
• Maintain knowledge packages with commentary, case law, parliamentary history, and interpretation.
• Develop pipelines and keep packages up to date.
• Make quality measurable with evaluation sets, observability and metrics.
• Build features for customers, e.g., document analysis and advanced case-law search.
• Collaborate with editors and subject-matter experts to identify what matters in a legal question.
• Propose and test ideas to sharpen or speed up the product, balancing AI experiments with backend development.
