Job summary

Orange Quarter is seeking an experienced Lead Quality Assurance Engineer to join our technology team in Amsterdam. You will be the second QA hire and help shape testing across internal backend systems.

You will own integration, system and feature testing, working with developers, product and business stakeholders to ensure quality from design to deployment. This role emphasizes business impact and continuous QA improvement, with opportunities to introduce automation.

Qualifications

• Solid experience as a QA Engineer, Test Engineer or Quality Assurance Engineer.
• Strong experience with backend systems and integrations.
• Hands-on experience with system, integration and feature testing.
• Good understanding of APIs, databases and data flows.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable working independently and taking ownership.
• Confident communicating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Someone who thinks about business outcomes, not just technical functionality.

Responsibilities

• Lead QA across key internal backend systems.
• Own feature, system and integration testing.
• Work closely with developers, product and business stakeholders.
• Identify risks early and ensure quality is considered throughout development.
• Create and maintain effective test scenarios and cases.
• Investigate and manage defects through to resolution.
• Understand the wider business impact of technical changes.
• Help improve QA processes, standards and ways of working.
• Identify opportunities for automation and more efficient testing.
• Support and collaborate with the existing QA engineer.
