Job summary

GEA is seeking a Mechanical Refrigeration Engineer to design and develop innovative industrial refrigeration and heat pump solutions for global clients. You will work within a collaborative project team to ensure technically excellent, value-engineered projects within budget and time constraints.

You will engineer customized systems, lead mechanical engineering efforts, and collaborate with CAD, automation, and electrical engineers to meet international standards and customer specifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Process Engineering or equivalent refrigeration experience.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in industrial refrigeration and knowledge of safety, heat pumps, and regulatory directives.
• Proficiency in CAD (Autodesk Plant P&ID) and MS Office.
• Familiarity with international design standards and regulatory compliance.
• English language proficiency; Dutch language a plus.
• Knowledge of industrial automation, ERP systems (Microsoft Axapta), and electrical schematics; VCA certification and marine refrigeration experience beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Engineer customized and standardized refrigeration systems, ensuring compliance with CE-PED requirements and customer specifications.
• Lead mechanical engineering efforts on projects, guiding junior engineers and hired professionals where needed.
• Collaborate with project teams including CAD, automation, and electrical engineers to deliver high-quality refrigeration designs that meet international and local regulations.
• Conduct risk analysis and prepare detailed documentation for HAZOP and QHSE.
• Develop Functional Design Specifications (FDS) in partnership with automation engineers and ensure correct plant operations.
• Support Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) with commissioning engineers and site supervisors.
• Provide technical support to internal stakeholders, including sales and service teams, as well as clients.
• Contribute to GEA-wide standardization and innovation efforts, continuously improving refrigeration technologies.
