Job summary

European Space Agency - ESA is seeking a Lead Instrument End-to-End Data Chain Engineer for the Copernicus Sentinel-2 NG mission in Noordwijk, NL. You will manage the end-to-end data chain subsystems, including front-end electronics, data processing units and instrument control unit, during Phase B2/C/D/E1.

You will report to the Payload Manager and work with D/TEC to coordinate design, fabrication, integration and testing, ensuring on-time delivery and adherence to mission requirements.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline with 4 years of relevant professional experience or a bachelor’s degree with 8 years of experience.
  • Experience in end-to-end data chain hardware, firmware and software for optical space instruments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the instrument end-to-end data chain hardware and software development and verification.
  • Supervise design, procurement, development and verification activities across the project lifetime.
  • Coordinate with D/TEC and other project teams to ensure technical and schedule compliance.
  • Report regularly on risks and mitigation plans; drive schedule optimisation.
